R.J. Lyman Joins Board; Additional Appointments to Come

The Libertarian Policy Institute is proud to announce the appointment of R.J. Lyman to the board.

R.J. Lyman is a former Assistant Environmental Secretary of Massachusetts, former Director of the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act Office, an attorney, and an investor active in a number of industries including renewable energy development.

Lyman, Chair of the 2020 Bill Weld presidential campaign, will join the governing board at a key time as the Institute begins a number of new projects and prepares for the 2022 election season. His experiences directing a high-level campaign and setting public policy will help progress the Libertarian Policy Institute’s goals of ensuring libertarian ideals are being championed in elections across the nation.

The Libertarian Policy Institute was founded to provide policies that are “for everyone, not just a philosophical ideal.” Lyman’s appointment comes with experience promoting libertarian ethics against a decidedly non-libertarian establishment in the 2020 Republican presidential primary.

Lyman joins board president Ricky Dale Harrington, Jr. as the second in a series of board appointments, with additional appointments to be revealed over the coming days.

“Working with someone of R.J.‘s caliber is exciting,” said operations director Richard Manzo. “The ethics of libertarianism are the same, but Republican candidates have a different audience. R.J. clearly has good instincts for communicating to that audience, and a track record of success in it as well as in law and, most importantly, setting real-life government policy aimed at improving lives.”
